Map of GamesOptional Steam connection
When you connect Steam, authentication happens on Steam and your password is never shared with Map of Games. A signed HttpOnly cookie stores your Steam identifier for up to 30 days. Your public game library and playtime are fetched on demand to build your personal map, held in a short technical cache, and not saved in our database. Disconnecting removes the browser session cookie.
Data used by the directory
A signed HttpOnly cookie remembers your anonymous voting identity for up to one year. Comparison selections stay in localStorage; a sessionStorage marker prevents duplicate page views in one tab. Views and outgoing clicks are also stored as daily first-party totals without individual browsing histories.
Optional Google Analytics
When configured, Google Analytics remains completely blocked until you accept audience measurement. After acceptance, Google may receive page paths, interactions, device information and approximate location data, and may set audience-measurement cookies. Advertising storage, Google signals and ad personalization stay disabled. Your choice is kept for up to six months. You can refuse or withdraw it at any time through Analytics settings.
Advertising
The site uses Google AdSense to fund its operation. Google and its advertising partners may process device information, identifiers and browsing data to select, deliver and measure ads. In regions where consent is required, advertising choices are collected through Google’s certified consent platform. You can review or change those choices from the privacy message shown on the site.
Forms & abuse protection
Submissions and correction messages are stored for review, including an email if you provide one. Rate limiting uses a keyed hash of the network address when a trusted proxy is configured. Expired rate-limit records are deleted by maintenance jobs. Optional Turnstile sends anti-abuse information to Cloudflare. Contact us for access, correction or deletion requests.
